Carpenwater is a private fishing lake of about 1 acre in size with an average depth of around 7ft located on a working farm near Clacton on Sea, Essex.

During January 2004 we stocked the lake with several hundred fast growing carp of mixed sizes and left them for just over a year to settle in. During this period the fish where fed a special pellet diet along with an endless supply of natural food. The water quality including pH was monitored on a weekly basis to make sure everything remained stable.
We then opened for fishing on a pre booked ticket basis from April 2005.

During the first year we installed an aeration system to keep the oxygen levels as high as possible which really made a big difference later on in the season.

We have also stocked the lake with tench, ide, crucian carp, ghost carp over the last two years and now the long awaited wels catfish.

We care about the fish in carpenwater as though they are our pets as each fish has been introduced by hand and many have been specially selected for their excellent markings. This is why we do not allow over crowding or over fishing to take place. We now only let four anglers fish per day on a syndicate basis. We feel that fishing is more enjoyable when you know the place has not been overfished and the quality of the fish are first class!

This is why we have opened Carpenwater - to give that extra special fishing experience. We decided to make the move to a syndicate as we feel this is the best way forward for the future of Carpenwater. All anglers have fished carpenwater on a regular basis and know exactly how much we care about the fish we have stocked and treat them with the best of care.

Every effort has been made to make carpenwater a first class fishery. Our aim is to provide anglers with a good days fishing, catching quality fish in a natural environment.
