Tips...

Since we opened in April of this year we have had a wide variety of anglers fish at the lake. Some have been pleasure anglers looking for some rest and relaxation others have been very experienced anglers looking to catch as many fish as possible during their visit. Most have enjoyed excellent sport but a few have struggled on odd occasions, this may have been down to the weather, bait or global interference of some kind! So for anyone wanting a little advice you may find the following tips useful.

1. Never overlook or under estimate the margins, as these are often where most fish are caught. When I tell people to fish close in they seem to think 10ft is close in, 5ft is often too far out especially if you are fishing next to the reeds.

2. Feed little and often until the fish move into your swim, then once you have landed a few fish feed a small handfull of pellets or corn every other fish.

3. Always have a tin of sweetcorn in your bag as this is a bait the carp will feed confidently on as i feed it to them as part of a feeding plan every week.

4. If you prefer to use boillies then give fishmeal ones a try - as most of the carp caught on boillies this year have all been caught on fishmeals.

5. Look for signs of feeding fish as they will always give themselves away by rolling, clouding the water and releasing debris from the silt.
